Hero Drafts is a realtime auction game for 2 to 5 players. Everyone gets the same budget, random characters go on the block one at a time, and when the money runs out the squads fight. This page explains a full game and the modes you unlock afterwards.
How do I start a game?
Create a hero with a name and a password. That is the only sign-up there is. In the lobby, pick Play with friends to create a game and share the 4-letter room code, or type in the code a friend sent you and press Join. If nobody is around, Public match puts you in a queue with anyone else who wants to play.
The host picks the universe (Marvel, Star Wars, Middle-earth, Invincible or all of them) and can change the settings: starting money ($20), team slots (5), skips (1), an optional per-turn timer (off by default, 30 seconds when switched on) and battle luck.
How does the auction work?
A random character is revealed with six stats: intelligence, strength, speed, durability, power and combat. One player is the opener and must bid at least $1. Bidding then goes round the table; on your turn you raise or pass. When only one bidder is left, they pay their bid and the character joins their team. The opener role moves to the next player for the next character.
Money is tight on purpose. With $20 and five slots, paying $9 for one big name means the rest of your squad is built from $1 and $2 bargains.
What is a skip?
Instead of opening the bidding, the opener can spend a skip to decline the character. The opening then passes to the next player, and declining costs the others nothing. If everyone declines, the character is discarded. Each player starts with one skip, so save it for a character you really do not want to be stuck opening at $1.
When does the game end?
When nobody can bid anymore: every team is full, or everyone is out of money. Unspent money is not worth anything, so use it.
How does the battle work?
Every team fights every other team. With battle luck on (the default) each match is best of seven clashes on random stats, and each clash gets a ±20% swing so an underdog can steal a win. With battle luck off the fight is fully deterministic: one clash per stat category, raw team totals, strongest team always wins.
Most match wins takes the championship. Ties are broken by the head-to-head result, then by total team power.
What do I win?
Coins, by final placement: 100 for first, then 60, 40, 30 and 20. Coins buy Hero Packs (100 coins for 5 cards, with a small chance of a foil). Cards come in common, rare, epic and legendary rarities and go into your collection, sorted by universe.
What is the market?
The player market is where spare cards change hands. Put a card up for a timed auction (12, 24 or 48 hours) and other players bid coins on it, or list it for trade and accept a card-for-card offer. The seller always gets at least one coin on a sale.
What is a duel?
A 1v1 fight using a deck built from your collection. Stat Clash: pick a card and a stat, your opponent answers with a card, first to three round wins. KO Battle: the fighters trade strikes and blasts until one squad is down. Challenge a friend from the players list or let matchmaking find an opponent. Winning earns coins and builds your streak.
What is Hero Draft?
A solo mode. You build a 9-card team by picking one of five random cards for each slot: a leader, six slots tied to one stat each, and two bench seats. The team gets a rating, with a bonus for chemistry. Three daily challenges pay out coins, and the weekly leaderboard pays prizes to the top teams.
Any tips?
- Count the slots left, not just the money left. Five heroes at $4 beat one at $20.
- The stats on the card are the whole game. A high combat score wins more clashes than a famous name.
- Let someone else open. A $1 opener often ends up paying $5.
- Keep your skip for a character nobody wants; otherwise you are the one opening at $1.
